Photos = Art

I hear it all the time from clients..."I just don't know where to put my pictures!!! And I don't know what sizes to get!"
Here's an idea for you...use your pictures as art! Theses memories should be the things that fill your home...that tell your life story...the things that mean the most to you.
So that's what I've done in my own home...here's a little glimpse into my life...and how I choose to remember my memories.
This is my long-awaited canvas that just arrived to my doorstep yesterday! A Mother's Day present, it is my most favorite picture of my daughter and husband. I got it printed as a 20x24 gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang....and these pictures do not even come close to doing it justice. It is breath-taking. And is truly a work of art. If I could, I'd invite every single one of my readers over to see it for yourselves! Then you would understand.

Did I tell you I love it??? I do, I just love it.

I'm thinking now I could have gone even larger.......

This is our living room....and guess who's on the walls?!? I love these shots of my daughter...This is what I want to look at for years and years to come...not some artwork someone else created. I want to remember her at 2 1/2 running through a field of wildflowers. The 2 large prints are 20x28's and the smaller prints are 8x10's in matted frames. (Large prints can take some getting used to for some people...like my husband.) It has taken him a very long time to realize that a small print on a big wall just doesn't make sense....he gets it now. Not that he has a choice! :0)

Just a shelf with some coordinating small prints from our family shoot last November...

Our living room again....above our tv. This is a 20x20 print of Taylor from my Fall Leaves shoot I did November 2007. 20x20 frames can really be a challenge to find...I lucked out at Walmart of all places! I found this frame (that looks great in our living room) in their art section. We just cut it open, ripped out the art and put my print in it. We had to get creative with the back...but you do what you have to do! If I remember correctly, it only cost me @ $29. What a steal.

Taylor's bathroom...just a 12x12 collage I made from some beach pictures... these were from the same day as the image on the canvas. Such treasured memories to me.

Taylor's playroom...I can't get a great shot, but hopefully you can get the idea. Along this wall I have 3 20x28 prints matted and framed in 24x36 frames. Check Hobbly Lobby when they have their frames on sale and you would be surprised how cheap you can get these large frames. These are a few of my favorite shots of her...and I really wanted to make a statement of her life. These pictures define her little personality so much better than anything else I could buy. (My husband is in the process of painting her playroom...so just the corners are started. It will eventually be pink with light pink polka dots!)

I hope that you've gotten ideas on how to make a place in your home for your memories. They deserve to be seen...not just put in an album. Think big...you won't ever regret it.

I met the L Family out at Green Cove Springs Park on a very busy Saturday...thank goodness you can't see all the activity around us! We even crashed a wedding going on right next to us! Love the shots of Baby Caroline...

For Charity...

This is my second year participating in a very special charity with the Moms Club of Orange Park...I was honored last year when they asked me to be a part of raising money for Dreams Come True. Their organization sells 15 minute mini-sessions with me (only $10...what a deal!) and then donate all funds collected to Dreams Come True. I'm so excited to once again be included in such a great cause....

The shoot is scheduled for May 16th & 17th @ Oakleaf Plantation (behind the Phase 2 clubhouse)

Sessions are still available...shoot me an email (shannoncphoto@aol.com ) for more information or to make a donation!

The S Family needed to schedule their session a few weeks early....and I'm so glad they did! I just adore these shots of their beautiful family!
